Our research focuses on seed germination ecology, climate change effects on plant regeneration, invasion ecology, and Indonesian tropical forests, especially the holoparasitic plant Rafflesia. We study how seeds and seedlings interact with environmental factors to influence species’ life cycles and populations, species interactions in communities, and restoration of ecosystems.
We’ve worked on species from a broad range of ecosystems, such as temperate deciduous forests, tropical rainforests, sclerophyllous woodlands, deserts, montane forests, mangroves, and limestone cedar glades (www.mtsu.edu/glade-center/). We welcome undergraduate and graduate students and visiting scholars to join our lab.
